Prescription Sunglasses

Prescription Sunglasses

Sunglasses are not just to protect your eyes from the sun, but should also enhance how well you see (even your sports performance) and improve the comfort of your eyes. This is important to enjoy life, and for your safety, particularly when driving. With a high quality, polarised sunglass lens, enhanced vision and comfort is something we can help you achieve. And yes, you can put your prescription into almost all of our sunglasses.

Not all sunglasses are the same. There are two main aspects to providing a quality sunglass; Ultra Violet light (UV) protection and polarisation. In Australia we have standards which grade how well a sunglass blocks the damaging UV rays from the sun, with 0-1 being little to no UV protection. Polarisation is a filter built into sunglasses to reduce glare by blocking reflected light off surfaces like water, roads, car bonnets, windows and buildings etc. All polarised sunglasses will also have good UV protection.

Why are sunglasses and UV protection important?

You can get cancers in and on your eyes. The sun can damage the surface of your eye, just like your skin. The pupil (black part, circle on the surface of your eye) is a hole which means those damaging sun rays can pass through to the internals of your eye, as well. The other source of eye cancer can be from other cancers within the body. This is just one reason why it’s so important to have regular eye checks.

Prescription Sunglasses

If you have prescription glasses, even just for reading, you can incorporate that into prescription sunglasses so that you can enjoy clearer vision and sun protection in the one pair of glasses. If you wear sunglasses over your eyeglasses then this is for you. Prescription sunglasses can come in the form of single vision distance correction, and multifocals or bifocals if you have a reading prescription. Prescription sunglasses are tailored to your prescription, helping you to see clearly and prevent you from squinting in the sun. Prescription sunglasses will include UV protection so you can enjoy the outdoors without worrying about sun damage to your eyes. Another benefit of prescription sunglasses is that you can claim them on private health insurance with optical benefits. Want to still make a fashion statement?
